Dallas NJTL

The National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Dallas Chapter was started by the DTA in 1978.  For over 30 years thousands of inner city and at-risk children have participated in this program.  Each child is provided not only with free transportation to and from the nearest tennis center, but also with all of the equipment he or she need to play the game, from racquets and balls to apparel and shoes.

But there is more to this game than racquets and balls.  Participants who excel can be rewarded in several ways; through one of the special awards given for outstanding play and sportsmanship, through a tennis scholarship or through free participation in the DTA junior development program called Slam Jammers.

This summer the DTA will once again team up with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department to offer free tennis programs to over 1,000 children.  Students who excel in the program will be invited to compete in an end-of-season City Championship with an opportunity to participate in NJTL Kid's Day.  For more information about Dallas NJTL, contact Bert Cole at 973-387-1538 ext. 5 or by email bertsy@tx.rr.com.
